What Should I Bring to My First Landscape Design Meeting?

This is how your dreams take shape. Your first connection with a Hursthouse landscape architect is critical – and it’s usually a lot of fun! We’ll meet you at your home and get to know your family’s needs and vision. We’ll also look at your home and property to learn what sort of landscaping might work best.

All that makes us ready to create the perfect landscape plan for you.

Here’s what you’ll need to bring to make that meeting a productive one:

  • Bring your ideas. Do you have photos, clippings, pins or idea books? Now is the time to show us what you’ve thought about so far for your landscape.
  • Bring your home documents. A plat of survey is important, and we’d love to see an architectural plan for your home too if you should have one.

Documents like these will expedite our design process, getting you a final plan more easily.

  • Bring your budget. Knowing how much you can invest in your new landscape helps us tailor our ideas and conversation to what’s possible.

Some families bring a “right now” budget for how much they feel they can invest in short-term landscape construction, while others set a “total over time” budget, to include phased landscape updates and alterations over years to come.
