The Design & Build Process
How does the landscape design process begin?
Every great landscape starts with your unique story. The process begins with an initial complimentary consultation where we tour your property, listen to your vision, discuss how you want to live in your outdoor space, and establish your goals. From there, our team might present solutions and a proposal.
Do I have to use Hursthouse Landscape for both design and construction?
We offer Design, Build, and Maintenance services in any combination to meet your needs. While our “Design-Build” model offers the most seamless experience—ensuring the team building your yard completely understands the architectural intent—we do work with clients who have existing plans, or who wish to start with the design phase only.
How long does a typical landscape renovation take?
Because every project is completely custom, timelines vary significantly based on scale and complexity (e.g., adding outdoor kitchens, masonry, or extensive hardscaping). At the complimentary consultation, we will discuss general budget options and timing for your project, and during the design phase, we will provide estimated costs and a timeline for both the engineering/permitting stage and the actual custom landscaping build.
Who manages the permits and HOA approvals?
Hursthouse Landscape handles the heavy lifting. We manage local municipal permitting processes and can provide you with the exact architectural drawings, material samples, and site plans required for your Homeowners Association (HOA) approval.

What is the typical investment for a Hursthouse landscape?

Do you offer phased installation options?

Do you provide maintenance for properties you didn’t design or build?
Our premium maintenance and stewardship services are tailored to nurture and protect the investments of our Design-Build projects. And we can also provide maintenance contracts for established premier properties in our service areas.
What does your maintenance program include?
Our maintenance service goes far beyond basic mowing and blowing. Our professional landscapers provide dedicated property stewardship, which includes seasonal color displays, expert pruning, soil and turf health management, irrigation oversight, and long-term plant care to ensure your landscape grows more beautiful every year.
